Looking for a Jeep Wrangler?
In the back of our minds, we’ve all thought about owning a Jeep Wrangler. Driving along the beach in the beautiful California weather with our significant other beside us and a couple of dogs in the backseat lapping up the warm coastal breeze. At least, that was my teenage dream when I first went to Jeep Camp back in 2003: a new Wrangler, two golden retrievers, and my high-school boyfriend in the seat next to me. Ah, wouldn’t that be the life?
This idyllic scenario has led the Jeep Wrangler to become the most-searched used car in America, as the Millennial generation has started to earn real money and pursue their childhood off-roading dreams. But if you’re looking for a great deal on a used vehicle, the Jeep Wrangler might not cut it. Instead, we’ve got a few suggestions for L.A. car buyers searching for cars that won’t slash their savings accounts to smithereens.
Wranglin’ for a great deal? Check out these vehicles which have popped up on our Deal Alert. You never know what car you’ll end up falling in love with after all!
Toyota Yaris -$1,545 (!6.7%)
The subcompact Yaris might feel a little cramped with a few large golden retrievers inside, but let’s be honest- a lot of us (myself included) own small dogs who fit very comfortably in the Yaris’s backseat. It’s an excellent commuter car for that infamous L.A. traffic, with up to 30 mpg city/37 highway. Parallel parking? Don’t sweat it with the Yaris- unlike a larger SUV, the Yaris fits well into those tiny L.A. parking spaces. The Yaris is also renowned for its great visibility, so you can see those obnoxious texting drivers trying to merge into your lane.
Chevrolet Express -$2,218 (15.2%)
If you did wind up getting those golden retrievers, the Chevy Express has a backseat for each of them! The Express is a versatile van with a host of options: you can choose passenger or cargo, different powertrain options, payload capacities, towing capacity, and wheelbases. As a passenger van, the Express can comfortably fit 12 or 15 people. No, you can’t drive in the California sand with this one, but you can take a whole bunch of family and friends to the beach for a holiday! And the dogs, of course. Can’t forget the dogs!
Mercedes-Benz S -$4,582 (14.1%)
This is a car for the Californian who enjoys traveling in style. It has a prestigious five stars from Car and Driver, which can be notoriously picky with their ratings system. You can choose a 449-hp 4.7-liter twin-turbo V-8 with standard rear-drive, or the powerful 523-hp 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 with rear-wheel drive. If you’re done with camping in the sand and prefer the luxury of a five-star hotel, this is the car to arrive in. And if preserving the natural beauty of the beach is important to you, the Mercedes-Benz S class has an eco-friendly plug-in hybrid.
